How To Free Up Space Of Your Phone

Every user of an Android device, sooner or later, faces the problem of erasing the internal memory or freeing up space. A messy drive causes all kinds of slowdowns, prolonged discharges, and other inconveniences.  Fortunately, in recent years there have been effective ways to free up internal memory space. For example, Android compressors. Let's take a closer look at all of these methods.

1.Transfer Apps To MicroSD Card

Most of the internal memory is occupied by applications and games installed on it, and can reach tens of gigabytes. If your smartphone supports working with microSD cards, there is a great opportunity to increase the storage space for files, transferring some additions to the additional microSD memory. It is available to all users of Android 6.0 Marshmallow and later versions, freeing up internal memory.

2.Storage Manager

Starting with Android 8.0 Oreo, the operating system has a built-in smart storage manager. This feature allows you to keep track of the amount of space that apps and games and your data, photos, videos, audio files, downloads, and various caches take up on your smartphone. Storage Manager automatically collects the latest downloads and also marks the files that can be processed. All you have to do is select what you want to remove and after one tap it will be gone forever. Focus first on banking apps, messaging, and music and video content streaming services. They provide a large amount of data.

3.Google Files

Android Storage Manager is easy to see the space used by different types of data, but it does not drill down into the system. To see more details about what and how much memory is used on your smartphone, it is better to use the special Google Files application. This tool is free and compatible with Android 5.0 Lollipop and higher devices to free up internal memory space.

4.Clean Up Cache

Many Android applications use temporary stored data (the so-called cache) to work better: for example, they load internal directories or maps faster. They speed up operations and work with applications, but they are not required, everything happens at the request of the user. Sometimes a large database is cached, so when freeing up space on the device, the first thing you need to do is check the application cache.

5.Remove Files in Download

After a while, the standard downloads folder may reach an unexpected size. If you actively download files from the Internet, Messenger and social networks, but then do not delete them, in the last weeks or months, they will be quietly converted to a few gigabytes on the built-in drive. Don't forget your downloads and clean or free up folder space at least once a week.

6.Remove Email And Chats

Another way to save space is to delete all text messages from both Messenger and Mailbox. At first glance, it seems that text messages and emails do not pose a threat to your device memory. But this is not the case. When you count thousands of messages, they can take up a significant portion of your disk space.

7.Disable Updates

Most downloaded apps on Android can be updated in the background over Wi-Fi. However, the new version may outweigh the old one. In case of failure, the previous versions are saved on the device. If you disable automatic application updates through the Play Market, you can update the applications you need.

8.Reset Mobile To Factory Settings

It is used infrequently and only in emergency situations, because it involves the complete deletion of all user data on the device (only standard applications remain). If you still decide to use this method, it is recommended to transfer all the necessary data to another device or the cloud.

9.Backup Photos

On Android phones, it's easy to back up your photos with Google Photos, which stores photos privately in the cloud. To run it, you'll need to open the Google Photos app and log into your Google account, if you don't already have one. Click on the menu icon. Touch Settings, then Backup & sync. There is a backup and toggle next to the sink to turn this feature on or off, other settings are available for what is backed up and when. After backing up your photos, they can be safely deleted from your device without fear of losing them; you can download them from the cloud whenever you want. Open the Google Photos app, then select the images you want to delete (you can select these images individually or in batches). Tap on the plus icon, which looks like three vertical dots. Yes, and go to Delete from device at the top Right. From the screen.

10.Use Memory Card

Some Android phones have additional memory card slots, often microSD cards. This is an easy way to add extra storage to your phone without having to delete everything you love from the device. First, check the instructions for your specific phone to see if it supports memory cards and, if so, what types of cards it accepts. The memory card is at hand, turn off your phone, insert the memory card into your device and restart your phone. A notification called Settings should appear to help you install the card. From there, you can choose whether to use the memory card as portable or internal storage. Use portable storage for music, photos, and videos. You can move this data from one device to another if you want or need, but applications cannot be moved to this type of storage. Internal storage is used for apps and data that come from your device's store, and it won't work if you remove the memory card and use it on another device. To move applications from your phone to a memory card, go to the Settings page in Applications. Click the application you want to move to the memory card and touch Storage. Click Storage in use and press Change. Choose the new memory card and continue from there.
